Medically reviewed, and deliberately narrow

Two articles, on low back pain and on knee pain. Both are medically reviewed by Professor Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rafi, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon — the only writing on this site that carries a clinical review, and we keep the claim to exactly the pages it applies to.

The back pain piece takes on the instinct to lie still until it passes. That instinct is understandable and usually wrong, but the useful version of the advice is not simply "keep moving" — it is knowing what to reduce, what to keep doing, and which symptoms mean the ordinary rules no longer apply and you need to be seen.

The knee piece covers the same territory for stairs and descent, where a knee that manages the climb and complains coming down is behaving predictably rather than failing. Understanding why changes what you do about it.

Both are educational and neither replaces an assessment. If your pain is new, severe, or came with symptoms the articles flag, see someone rather than reading about it.
