Most seasonal colouring books commit to a single mood. Summer does not really work that way — the same season holds a quiet beach at eight in the morning and a busy street at nine at night, and both are worth a page.
Two moods, one book
Open beach scenes are restful and quick. Sky, sand, a handful of large shapes, and you are done in fifteen minutes with something that looks calm. City pages are the opposite: windows, awnings, signage, a row of parked bikes — more to work through, more absorbing, better suited to an evening when you want to disappear into something for an hour.
Having both in one book means you can match the page to the evening rather than the other way round. That sounds like a small thing and it is the main reason a book keeps getting opened. The tired version of you and the restless version of you want different pages.
It makes the book easier to share
Children almost always go for the beach pages. Adults tend to prefer the busier ones. Because both are drawn in the same bold, open style, there is no reason everyone cannot be working from the same book at the same table, at their own pace, on completely different pages.
That is a genuinely underrated use for a printable book. Print four sheets, put them in the middle of the table, and the activity organises itself. Nobody has to be taught anything and nobody is waiting their turn.
Print it more than once
Because it is a PDF rather than a bound book, the same page can be a completely different picture twice. The beach at dawn in pale blues and the beach at sunset in oranges are the same line art and do not look remotely alike.
It is worth doing deliberately at least once. Colouring the same page in a different palette teaches you more about what you actually enjoy than working through twenty pages once each.
